Record for May 2009

Steady rise in spam rates

Across all our customers, the average rate of e-mails detected as spam in May 2009 rose to 94.4% of the total volume. Viruses represented a rate of 0.80% over the same period. This could be partly due to the month’s many bank holidays. As the number of legitimate e-mails is logically reduced, the number of spam mails is proportionally higher. However, between June 1 and 7, 2009 (full week), the average was 93.22% for spam and 0.16% for viruses.

The graph below shows the percentage of spam processed on our platforms since 2005.
