What steps should I take to stop a spammer?

The proportion of French spam in France is very low. I don’t think Signal Spam’s sole purpose is to have a means of controlling (and, I hope, repressing) French companies that don’t comply with the LEN.

The CNIL is well aware of this. It also carries out other actions at international level. Indeed, having taken the lead in the working group set up by the European Commission, CNIL has proposed the adoption of a text setting out a cooperation procedure defining the conditions for exchanging information on spam complaints. The CNIL has also forged closer links with its counterparts and with the Federal Trade Commission (USA), and has joined the work being carried out by the OECD and the ITU on this subject.

If an initial letter to the sender asking him to remove your e-mail address from his database, and reminding him of his obligation under article 38 of the January 6, 1978 law, remains unsuccessful, the legal procedure is to lodge a complaint with the TGI of the place where the company in question has its head office.
